GMC has refused my FoI request: 'Please advise the source of the funds to be used to fight legal cases brought by the British Medical Association (BMA) and Anaesthetists United challenging GMC's regulation of PAs and AAs.' Please would someone else submit the same request?

It is very much part of the dumbing down of the service offered to patients using the NHS. I would not want a prescription for medication if I had not been assessed and diagnosed correctly and I would like all appropriate treatment ( not just medication) if that is appropriate

A really interesting paper for those mis diagnosed with BPD who are actually autistic. It also shows the stigma the BPD label carries

Suicidal patients accused of ‘attention seeking’ by NHS staff, national probe warns A father of a young woman who died said: "I threw myself on the floor and begged them not to discharge her." independent.co.uk/news/health/su…

This is why the nhs needs to oppose the PA project from the top. Patients in clinics cannot be expected to assert their right to see a doctor. The power dynamics are such that it is unreasonable and unfair to expect patients to ask for a doctor. The system should protect us.

In Defence of a national sickness service. Don't believe the rhetoric that the NHS needs to shift from sickness to prevention. 80% of health is down to social determinants ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…

Survivors against PD #StopSIM #StopOxevision (@survivorsnotpd) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Exactly this. Let’s not pretend that ppl get labelled with ‘PD traits’ as a way to help them somehow. We all know there is very little support out there for ppl who have the full EUPD dx slapped on them. What possible help would ‘traits’ add? It’s a flag to other clinicians

The key thing missing here: There needs to be scrutiny before mass roll out of technologies and the ability to reflect and take decisive action, such as STOPPING using technology that causes patients distress or harm

When I hear “we need to embrace new technology “ to fix healthcare, it makes my eyes roll. Mostly cos so far, it involves people buying things that turn out to be useless and wasted money, OR excludes those who aren’t digitally literate. How do we stop this happening in new

James Downs One of my tests of (likely) good treatment: can the pt raise things the clinician did--words, laughter, etc--that made pt upset & be given space to discuss this with the clinician not becoming defensive or angry and without (as Winnicott so stressed) clinician retaliating?

They calculate a cost of £42 in staff time per hour for a self-harm incident. Based on involvement of these staff members. In my experience of self-harming on MH wards (sadly extensive) there's usually no staff response. Staff usually don't know or ignored me if they did know

See lots of unevidenced claims about the value of skill mix in mental health services The denigration of medical and nursing qualifications has been massively damaging to patient care

What we need to acknowledge is that the professionals who speak about patients in this way know it is abusive, they KNOW. x.com/CharleyBaker1/…

I love the way the NHS wants to embrace more technology to provide mh care but they haven't figured an easy to navigate and access electronic record system yet. And the NHS is the only org I have contact with anymore where you still have to wait because their computer has froze

For clinicians involved in mental health, please read this essential paper. It echoes Dr Hannah Bennett (née Belcher), Au Yeung (2018), Farrelly(2019). And Kentrou et al (2024) who found that one in 3 autistic women had a previous misdiagnosis. We also need to talk about the EUPD diagnosis...

"Suicidal pts are being ignored & accused of attention seeking" Notice the complete absence of gasps following this statement. It's hardly breaking news. NHS England literally rolled out a national programme to have suicidal ppl arrested & imprisoned 🙄 independent.co.uk/news/health/su…

I'm sorry but lack of resources does not make staff tell patients they are attention seeking. That's verbal abuse. Can we please stop making nhs staff the victims when they are the perpetrators. It's about time we had zero tolerance for patient abuse. x.com/Rebecca99LT/st…
