US statistical agencies are probably the most impressive in the world. The fact that they schedule and perform so many data revisions, in a transparent manner, furthers my confidence that they strive to produce accurate information.

A common misconceptions is that a theory is โ€˜debunkedโ€™ once we find it isnโ€™t fundamental Newton was right at v<<c, the geocentric model is but a bad coordinate choice, even the earth is locally flat Any successor of the Big Bang model will look very much like the Big Bang

Perfect encapsulation of Trumpโ€™s โ€œpro-Israel but in an antisemitic wayโ€ approach to politics โ€” zero regard for Jewish Americans as *Americans* who live in the United States and have a strong practical stake in American pluralism.

the fact that students routinely give worse ratings to โ€œtougherโ€ teachers while โ€œtougherโ€ teachers routinely improve student learning outcomes more is a good example of how the โ€œcustomer knows bestโ€ aspect of capitalism isnโ€™t universally applicable

The vast majority of fossil fuel infrastructure that will ever be built has already been. A small percent of the clean energy infrastructure that must be built has. Environmental orgs fighting permitting reform bc of the oil & gas provisions are just supporting the status quo.

Twitter has turned on by default now a setting that allows them to use our tweets to train grok. Turn it off by going to settings and searching grok, thereโ€™s only 2 results and they seem to both be the toggle anyway.

The worst thing that Musk has done to this site is the reversion to the pre-hypertext era. Penalizing links, and doubly so for links to the site with some of the best contemporary medium-form writing, makes Twitter (and the whole internet) smaller, not an โ€œeverything appโ€.
