Our criminal justice system is broken, but the Liberal Arts for Returning Citizens program at Clark University is a beacon of hope, giving those who were formally incarcerated the chance to take free college classes. Congrats to their students who worked so hard this semester!

I applaud USDA Nutrition’s new school meal nutrition standards, broadening their commitment to serve our students healthy, good-tasting food. This is a step in the right direction, making it easier for schools to serve locally produced and culturally appropriate meals.

Worcester is home to one of the oldest Armenian communities in the U.S.

I stand in solidarity with them and with Armenians around the world in solemn remembrance of the more than 1.5 million Armenian men, women, and children whose lives were taken during the #ArmenianGenocide .

Veterans deserve the very best our nation has to offer, and that includes safe, stable housing. I plan on working closely with the nonprofit Clear Path to help them transform an old convent in Leominster into housing and supportive services for veterans who are unhoused.

In Leominster, I learned about the fantastic work the South Middlesex Opportunity Council is doing to tackle homelessness. I will do everything I can to support their latest effort to convert a former motel into permanent supportive housing for our most vulnerable neighbors.
