In our new study Atherosclerosis, we evaluated the PCE for 10y event prediction in ppl with elevated Lp(a) >50 mg/dL. Lp(a) >50 mg/dl a/w with increased CVD risk & addition of Lp(a) to the PCE improved risk prediction, especially among low-risk individuals

Q16 To finalise the chat, what are your next steps in this study? Rishi Rikhi, MD🌱MS #HYPHIP Hypertension
Thank you so much Rishi Rikhi, MD🌱MS for this very interesting chat and study! I learned a lot and hope you enjoyed spending some time with us today! Thank you Francisco Rios for hosting us today! Wishing you all the best! #HYPHIP Hypertension
A16 1/1 First, we would like to replicate this study in a larger cohort. Next, we plan to find what factors mediate the role between Lp(a) and hypertension, such as oxidized phospholipids. #HYPHIP Francisco Rios Hypertension
A14. 1/1 This is a very interesting question. Unfortunately, our cohort was not set up to distinguish between hypertension and salt sensitive hypertension, but this is an area of future interest. @HYPHIP Francisco Rios Hypertension
Q14. Did you find any association with salt-sensitive hypertension? Rishi Rikhi, MD🌱MS #HYPHIP Hypertension
A12. 1/1 I hypothesize that there would be a significant interaction, and this would help to better understand mechanistic underpinnings. Pablo Nakagawa Hypertension #HIPHYP
Q13 Rishi Rikhi, MD🌱MS I am not sure if this was addressed already, but does the association with Lp(a) and hypertension get stronger in combination with present metabolic diseases? #HYPHIP Francisco Rios Hypertension
A13. 1/1 very interesting question that needs more research. Of interest is the inverse association between Lp(a) and diabetes. #HYPHIP Guto Montezano Hypertension
A12. 1/1 There have been links between Lp(a) and vascular function. This is a great review of Lp(a) and vascular function, including its association with carotid intima medial thickness and brachial artery flow mediated dilation. #HYPHIP
