So many people tying themselves in knots to find ways to 'Save the Planet' when the simplest, most obvious & most effective tactic to slow climate change would be to take heat out of the global economy & buy less environmentally hungry, rescource hungry, consumer shit instead.

The Birch paper that showed a 56% fall in cattle TB in badger cull areas has been much discussed or even dismissed as unwelcome by some.
Good fair summary of its findings here…

Did the presenter also note the majority of the land allocated to beef and sheep is unsuitable for growing human food or fibre crops because it’s too steep/high/rocky/wet/dry/cold/salty/infertile? Therefore grazing livestock provide the only potential food crop? LEAP

You know your are getting old when: You bump into someone you went to school with and mistake his daughter for his wife. Realise when you admire his grandchildren that you knew their great-great-grandfather.

'investors in the sector are now admitting they got several things wrong, incl. overestimating consumer demand for alternative meat [..] The lack of a clear route to profitability for the business in the short term is keeping investors away, with gross margins deeply negative'

Ian Carter Looking to the bigger picture if conservationists want to influence they must work with farmers. Food production will always be the priority, dismissing farmers’ genuine concerns so easily & you’ll find yourself sidelined.

We import billions of £££ of grain alone every year to the UK - our fresh food requirements run out in days - we don't grow the right food for a healthy diet - This isn't farmer bashing - they are working in a most imperfect system - this project won't touch the sides!

Gosh @terrier_view , are you actually for real ???!!!

“but they are so entrenched in a silo of absolute badger preservation reasonable discussion is impossible. It’s been thus with such groups for a long time…..”

Typical idiotic logic of a few with your hidden agendas.😀

A badger protection group has underlined its public comfort with millions of people dying of TB - world's most inefectious disease. What's in their heads? If death result of infection it also avoidable. So for preservation of as many lives as possible TB infection must be curbed.

The BadgerTrust is wilfully blind. Its misinformation is aimed at maintaining internal job security. (Think Post Office and Horizon - even Trump's Republican Party) And it will continue to pump it out as long as its dupes send in their money.

Tried to read John le Carre's 'Spy Who Came In From The Cold'. Could not get past first chapter. Writing dreadful. Have since picked up 'The Night Manager'. Its startlingly good. Can't put it down. How can two novels by same author be so radically different?

I had the pleasure of guiding Dr. Pat Morris on a wildlife tour in Slovenia some years ago. We had some excellent chats about hedgehogs & badgers. He was forthright on the issue.
