AMA is a African Union specialized health agency tasked with improving regulatory harmonization of medicines, including in the area of pharmaceutical manufacturing, in an effort to improve access to quality-assured drugs across the continent. Its headquarters will be in Kigali.

Honorable Dr. Ngamije Daniel is attending the 2-day Extraordinary African Medicines Agency (AMA) State parties meeting in Addis Ababa. The overall objective of the meeting is to deliberate and decide on operationalization modalities of AMA.

Today, State Minister in charge of Primary Health Care Dr Tharcisse MPUNGA chaired a joint meeting between different government agencies at Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority HQs, to tackle the issue of illegally-processed drugs present at the local market.

Today, a delegation of Bundesentwicklungsministerium that is in Rwanda for a working visit, conducted a study tour at the Quality Control Laboratory (QC Lab) of Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority and discussed areas of collaboration between the two countries with emphasis on vaccines regulation in Rwanda.

Following a Twinning agreement signed with @EUinRw in June 2022, Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority today, kicked off a 5-days consultative meeting with experts from the EU health and pharmaceutical sectors on strengthening the Authority’s regulatory functions related to medicinal products and vaccines.
