We are fed up with Alden Global Capital’s constant cuts and apparent commitment to shrinking the paper.

In ‘22, the LA Times took a chance on this lil mama from Queens to live out a dream of being a baseball beat writer. Today,I was informed I’m being laid off. What a privilege it was to cover the Angels. What a privilege it was to work for The Times. Thank you all for everything✨

I'm walking out today with other members of L.A. Times Guild 🦅 in protest of the massive layoffs planned.

I didn't leave an Alden-owned newspaper and move across the country to work for a paper that cuts more than 10 percent of its staff every six months.

I’m so so proud to walk out alongside my L.A. Times Guild 🦅 colleagues today.

The Times has tried to intimidate members before from joining open bargaining sessions. It has surveilled members by photographing people when they've tried to speak to management collectively. These are violations of our rights to act together.

This will greatly damage our ability to provide the accountability journalism so important to Southern California.

The management of the Los Angeles Times has announced that it intends to imminently lay off a significant number of journalists, and is asking the Guild to gut seniority protections in our union contract so they have vastly more freedom to pick whom to lay off.
