Here's a look at the original northern end of the #M9 Falkirk Bypass! 🧐 Opened in 1968, the motorway temporarily terminated on the A876 road (now the A88) before being extended to Bannockburn in 1980. Who remembers this setup? #Falkirk #Archives

How about some #BeforeAndAfter views? This is the Beattock Junction. The #A74 dual carriageway was built in 1965 while the #A74(M) upgrade followed in 1999. This was the last motorway junction to be built in the 20th Century! Much changed? Stay tuned for more soon! 😍 #Archives

Ahead of the Forth Road Bridge's 60th anniversary tomorrow, here's a new photo from the Archive. It shows steelwork erectors involved in the construction of the bridge deck. Not much consideration of health and safety in those days! Scary! 😲 #Archives #ForthRoadBridge60

Anniversaries for official openings of two of the Forth bridges. Forth Road Bridge opened #onthisday 1964, the longest steel suspension bridge in Europe at the time. Queensferry Bridge opened 2017, cable-stayed bridge to reduce traffic on the earlier bridge.
