Several hundred gulls and at least 2 Hobby currently feeding high over Wareham/Carey on flying insects. Birds of Poole Harbour Dorset Bird Club
A relatively quiet but diverse ringing session this morning, with 26 birds of 13 species ringed Dorset Wildlife Trust Wild Woodbury. The years first 3 Grasshopper Warbler ringed, along with a surprise Pied Flycatcher the best of the bunch. Dorset Bird Club
125/50 in the moth trap this morning, with the biggest surprise this Oncocera semirubella, a new one for the garden. 24 Jersey Tiger the highest count of the year so far. Dorset Moths British Moths
Excellent Birds of Poole Harbour sunset cruise this evening, with 6 different Osprey in Wareham Channel. Breeding male 022 photos here, along with a distant (colour ringed) Peregrine. Dorset Bird Club

Lovely to see several Silver-spotted Skipper during a survey Dorset Wildlife Trust Fontmell Down today. A rainy start soon brightened with many on the wing and keen to get nectaring across the site. BC Dorset 🦋
A great Birds of Poole Harbour Osprey cruise this morning. Lots of rain but that didn’t stop the birds from coming out, with 5-6 Osprey, WT Eagle, Spoonbill, Marsh Harrier, and much more. This juv Osprey showing why the no landing area so important.
Some excellent ringing Dorset Wildlife Trust rewilding site Wild Woodbury over the past week. The Wryneck part of 200 birds, mainly Blackcap and Chiffchaff, but including a great mix of other migrants and resident birds pictured below. Dorset Bird Club #rewilding
