The Korean War was fought from 1950 to 1953. 8 Royal Canadian Navy destroyers and more 26,000 Canadians served at sea, on land and in the air during this bitter conflict. Today we commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Korean Armistice Agreement, and the lives of 516 Canadians.

The delegation was also lucky enough to attend a ‘thank you’ commemoration banquet for Canadian and other UN Korean War veterans, to honour and remember their sacrifice🇨🇦🇰🇷

Today, the delegation attended a commemorative ceremony in Gapyeong. It was an emotional visit, filled with memories of the difficult battle fought in the hills above the Kapyong Valley in 1951.

I am deeply honoured to join Korean War veterans in commemorating the end of hostilities 70 years ago.

We began our trip to South Korea with a wreath laying ceremony in British Columbia at the Ambassador of Peace Korean War Memorial🇨🇦🇰🇷

This weekend, Dr. Lussier presented MWO (ret’d) Simon Linklater with a beaded replica of his medals, crafted with the help of six other Indigenous consultants.

I was honoured to take part in this heartfelt presentation. Thank you Simon for all that you give, and have given.
