Results from a survey by George House Trust Darren Knight - almost 3/4 people with HIV had seen HIV mentioned on the pretreatment consultation form for beauty & cosmetic treatments. Unnecessary & stigmatising!
They've developed accredited online training 👏

A high proportion of survey respondents were asked about their HIV status in a pre-treatment consultation. Around half were refused treatment after sharing their HIV status.

Work needs to be done to improve knowledge around HIV within the industry.

Our final abstract for the day is from Darren Knight of George House Trust on Addressing and challenging HIV stigma in the beauty industry.

GHT decided to survey people living with HIV’s experiences of stigma when seeking beauty services, including tattoos.

The #PositiveVoices survey covering met and unmet needs of people living with HIV is being presented by Colette Smith of University College London.

The highest level unmet need was long term management and linkage to peer support and other people living with HIV.

So happy to see this go live, was a lovely final project to work on before I left THT.

Anxiety around social care was a commonly discussed topic whilst I was working with older adults living with HIV.

This survey will help promote a new co-produced resource (which was to be my final project at THT!) please share, and take part of you're living with HIV ⤵️
