Jonas Staal wint de Prix de Rome Beeldende Kunst 2023, gefeliciteerd! Staal ontving de prijs uit handen van staatssecretaris Gunay Uslu in het @stedelijkmuseum. De prijs werd uitgereikt in aanwezigheid van Koningin Máxima. Staal won de prijs voor de videostudie 'Empire’s Island'.

Calling all design and book lovers! 📚 Join us as we celebrate the magical blend of words and visuals. This Saturday (30th of Sept), the Best Dutch Book Designs of 2022 exhibition opens it's doors.

This 1963 work was Yayoi Kusama's first room installation. Kusama found this boat on the streets of New York and then covered it with shapes reminiscent of penises. For a female artist to create a work so explicitly dealing with sexuality in the 1960s was very radical.
