4 Udea ferrugalis (Rusty-dot Pearl), 1 Gem (N. obstipata), 2 Dark Sword-grass (A. ipsilon) and 28 Silver Y (A. gamma), plus 4 Angle Shades (P. meticulosa), to light at St. Mellion, E. Cornwall on 17/5.

Silver Y (A. gamma) everywhere this evening, especially on the Red Campion. Also, U. ferrugalis (Rusty-dot), and just found a female Gem (N. obstipata) on the house wall by the trap. St Mellion, Cornwall.

An improvement last night, despite the keen SE wind, with 114 moths of 42 species recorded. The strangest moth was a very late Dotted Border, 36 days after the last one was recorded. Possible migrants were P. xylostella, U. ferrugalis, 8 Silver Y (5 to ni lure), plus Angle Shades

Very much back down to earth with a bump last night, with 44 moths of 22 species recorded. Highlights were Peach Blossom, White Pinion-spotted, Flame Carpet, Water Carpet, White Ermine, Pale Tussock, Clouded Bordered Brindle, Lychnis, Spectacle and 5 Silver Y. St Mellion.

Such a magical experience last night! I’ve always wanted to photograph the northern lights, and I’m so excited that I’ve done it! It was very hard to go to sleep and to stop taking photos though!
