232 moths of 72 species in St Mellion overnight. I just managed to finish the traps before the rain started. Two new species for the garden - Barred Umber & Currant Pug. I also found a female Muslin Moth in grass close to one of the moth traps.

A surreal night under the Northern Lights. A keen easterly breeze meant lower numbers (148 moths of 54 species). A Red Admiral (C. atalanta) arrived with a Dark Sword-grass (A. ipsilon) just before midnight. Also, 3 Silver Y (A. gamma), 2 to ni lure. St. Mellion, Cornwall on 10/5

Such a magical experience last night! I’ve always wanted to photograph the northern lights, and I’m so excited that I’ve done it! It was very hard to go to sleep and to stop taking photos though!
