Disclaimer - I know nothing more of this case than what is reported. Short thread.

However, what is reported is pretty bad. This is something I do know, having managed this sort of thing for decades.

The ultimate issue is not about anything more than capacity. /1

Alberta continues to block efforts to have its pension plan survey data released

Postmedia has filed four requests for data from the survey, which closed in early December of 2023, all of which have been blocked by the government

Not sure how we missed this...

In March, Shannon Phillips raised the fact that Danielle Smith sto to have been exploiting that she can give away taxpayers money via sole sourced contracts to pals with no rationale required.

They used Pension consultations to do it.

“if Albertans want to push back against the UCP’s creeping authoritarianism, they’ll need to get off the couch. Make a commitment and a plan to stand up. Democracy demands that of us, from time to time.”

This.

Time to get loud.

Some days when I get particularly depressed with X doomscrolling, Wab Kinew pops up talking about how society can only fix tough problems together.

Have always believed that deeply.

Today’s news about the provincial government’s decision to cut the low income transit passes in Calgary and Edmonton is incredibly upsetting.

This pass was a way to help our neighbours. A means for everyone to actively participate in their community. It was an essential service…

I simply love this idea!

Behind almost all misinformation in health is money. The alternative medicine industry profits off persuading people not to do the right thing.

We tax polluters. Why not tax spreaders of misinformation? thehill.com/opinion/campai…

The single most impactful thing we did in 11 years was this pass. I have cried hearing the stories of how it changed the lives of poorer people in our community. And it was cost effective! (for Calgary, 1/20 the price of the Turkish Tylenol, half of the cost of the pension plan…

So my hubs who is Mr. Fix It and takes care of everyone but himself got stuck in 2.5cm of snow this AM. He's stubborn and too cheap to buy good tires. He parked in back of acreage on grass, I was out there in my pjs trying to help. I finally convinced him to use my car b4 💔🚑🙄

“As Alberta’s gatekeeper-in-chief, Danielle Smith is ripping away not just the rights of Alberta voters, but the ability of municipalities to effectively serve Albertans. She is setting up a totalitarian government for herself that is deeply disturbing.” - Kyle Kasawski

“Alberta's respiratory virus dashboard shows 25.1 per cent of Albertans received their flu shot this season, the lowest vaccination rate in the last decade.”

As Albertas flu death toll sets a 15 year record.

You work hard for your pension. It’s yours. Not the UCP’s.

Teachers deserve better.

All Albertans deserve better.

Say it with me:

HANDS OFF OUR CPP!

Great we can get a train but no Doctors, Nurses or Hospitals in Alberta.
Great we can get a train but NO Democracy with Bill 20.
Great we can get a train but No Schools.
Will UCP dictate WHO can ride the train ?
$$$$ - Who are supporters of Smith & UCP behind the train ?

People are rightfully concerned about the high case fatality rate (CFR) of the H5N1 influenza virus but did you know fatalities from COVID infection (which already spreads easily between humans) with the elderly are as high as 40% ( twitter.com/MauritzPreller… )? 🧵1/

Jon Meddings DrHeme👩🏻‍⚕️ 🦀 💊🇨🇦 Agree public health seems MIA.
And in the winter of 2020-21, we didn't have a single case of influenza.
I'm not suggesting that we should all stay away from each other, as we were. Lesson learned: prevent flu by vaccination, wearing N95s or equiv., and by staying home when sick.

ALBERTA, please check this out today!

May 25th could go down in history as the largest protest ever in Alberta, we ALL must do our part to make it a Success.

DEMOCRACY at risk in Alberta with Bill 20.
Bill 18 must be Stopped.

“Bill 20 is an attempt by the government to centralize, strengthen and tighten (Smith’s) hold on power”

A record loss of life comes after the UCP gov't directly interfered to weaken the fall vaccination campaign leading to the lowest uptake in the last decade.

The result of a Premier & gov't putting conspiracy ahead of science & political interests ahead of public health.
