THE Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre (TAC) is outraged ancestral remains have been dropped off, unannounced, in brown paper bags.

TAC project worker, Palawa woman Emerenna Burgess, said a plain-clothed police officer walked in and said ‘here’s some bones’.

We saw what happened last time a Rockliff Gov MP, then AG Elise Archer, introduced a Bill to the house, namely the Justice Miscellaneous (Commissions of Inquiry) Bill 2021, to 'fully empower the Commission' to undertake their work & 'further strengthen' the Act. (1) 🧵

Coca-cola takes free water from groundwater bores in WA which they bottle for sale. In ever worsening drought conditions, what impact does this extraction have? Will there be changes to conserve water within drought catchments? All pretty vague right now.

Lived Experience feedback to cost-of-living killers. Spoiler Alert: it's not drugs, or a shopping spree, or even the quintessential beer at the pub that's drowning Aussies. Most of us know, but here it is again, the trouble starts with affording basics

How the hell has this happened? The second busiest airport in Tasmania has no public transport. I didn't see the closure advertised going through there recently, and honestly, seems contemptuous by all levels of government to allow this. .

This. May we all have the strength for reflection, honesty, creativity, courage in the face of injustice and, to bear witness on the arduous road towards change.

@ronniesalt
there's this too
Many of us call for greater awareness of, intervention around and support worker accountability for assaults
This is the tip of the iceberg.
Then there's the srxual assaults, the financial coercion.

Just another day in Tassie.
We know we need pathways for justice to be more robust and for greater accountability.

The culture is wrong, that will change with hard handed sentencing for abusers.
The time is now

Rate rises causing households to cut back on (essentials), a social problem, not an economic solution. The duty of RBA, our central bank, is to promote economic prosperity. Banks show record profits. The guys in charge ARE the banks. We're getting screwed

Direct support is a great idea.
The care industry has some wonderful people employed - and despite that, by its very nature, it both perpetuates and relies on poverty and suffering. However unintended, making money off misfortune is the cycle of suppprt- industry interdependence.

The Great Barrier Reef looks like a “graveyard” that’s been been “carpet bombed” from mass coral bleaching.

And while global ocean temperatures keep pushing off the charts, coal and gas ships keep sailing out directly across it from Gladstone.

Dystopian Australia.

It is misguided - people need security of $: to get a reasonable rental you need proof of income. would be better for govt to use say 70% of those funds to pay secuirty deposits & be guarantor-but...how many people in that room had lived experience? definitely not enough, if any
