To honor several “barrier-breakers” during Black History Month, the students in the Curry Cafe completed timelines and first-person speeches about one Black American who was a trailblazer in their field.

Thank you to Karen Thompson  for teaching the Curry Cafe how to create drawings for a first-person speech activity that is inspired by Black History Month.

After an inquiry into the form, function, causation, and impacts of severe weather events, students wrote and filmed emergency weather announcements. We may have some budding meteorologists! District 186

Third graders wrote factor riddles and traveled around the room solving each others’ riddle.

The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme at Iles School emphasizes transferable key concepts as a way to organize student thinking and learning. These third graders are inquiring into severe weather by organizing their questions by concept. #ib
