We had 12 of these at one time and we lost 2 in 1982 (Sheffield & Coventry)

They were replaced by 6 type 45s and as one MP said we can’t cut them in half and have them in 2 places at once highlighting a major cut to fleet numbers

HMS Duncan

#OTD in 1988, USS Bonefish (SS-582) was forced to the surface where the crew abandoned the sub because of an intense fire in the battery compartment. 89 men were rescued by USS Carr and USS John F. Kennedy, but 3 sailors died. Bonefish had to be scrapped due to the damage.

Sad to report body found in the water on Sunday off Helensburgh identified as sailor Josh Gayton who went missing on 16th April.
