The machairs on are covered in Golden Plovers just now = staging here on their way north to Iceland - with some 5,000+ birds around the island today - also a high count of 730 Sanderling at Balephetrish Bay and the 1st Whimbrel of spring BirdGuides Patchwork Challenge

Possibly our last day on Tiree due to boat cancellations - ending with a cracker!

Black-throated Diver (I promise!) at Happy Valley, Black-tailed Godwits and a Little Egret at Loch a’ Phuill, WTE at Balevullin and Hynish, White-fronts overhead galore and Tysties.

A day of obvious migration on - finally a Dublin Bay ringed Oystercatcher (XN) at Traigh Bhagh Tara Adcock Ricky Whelan Dublin Bay Biosphere and 100s of Greenland White-fronted Geese (plus smaller numbers of Barnacle Geese) passing over from the south Patchwork Challenge

Quartet of birds of prey today: Merlin, Hen Harrier, Peregrine and Buzzard.

Also much better views of White-fronted Geese, Greenfinches at the Glebe, Goldfinches at Vaul and hundreds of Sanderling on the beaches.

Nothing better than a sunny day on Tiree.

Fantastic first day on Tiree.

Highlights include Brent Goose at Cornaigbeg (found by my younger sister), Hen Harrier, Sparrowhawk, Wheatear and so much more.

Also White-tailed Eagle and Tystie seen from the ferry.
