Thank you to the ambassadors & diplomats of 🇪🇺, 🇨🇭& 🇬🇧 for visiting Kurapaty today. For us, this is a sacral place. Thousands were killed here by Stalinist regime, including 130 Belarusian writers. In the late 80s, anti-Soviet protests, organized by Ales Bialiatski, began there.

Thankful to U.S. Embassy Minsk for organizing the exhibition of pictures by a Belarusian artist at Rotušė Square in Vilnius. It's a powerful & emotional look at the events in Belarus in the past two years. Each image contains our pain - art has great power, it speaks directly to the heart.

We are working on reforming the Coordination Council. It was created in 2020 to represent Belarusian society & now it must be reformed so that more voices are heard. The CC will increase the number of members & obtain new functions, including organizing public debates.

An illegitimate Lukashenka withdraws from #ICCPR Optional Protocol, deprives Belarusians of yet another mechanism to defend their rights @ #HRCttee . Would United Nations, António Guterres United NationsHumanRights again accept this openly illegal escalatory move & wait for another Never Again moment?

By becoming Putin's arms supplier, Lukashenka is deepening his complicity in the aggression against Ukraine. The transfer of military equipment from Belarus to Russia clearly shows that the dictator is paying back his debt & acting against the interests of the Belarusian people.

Hundreds of thousands of Belarusians have left the country because of repressions in the past two years. Even after they escape, many still live in fear as family members are threatened back home & property is seized or destroyed. The unlawful regime must be held accountable!

Once again Russia is trying to weaponize hunger & create global food insecurity. For Putin, anything can be used for blackmail - nuclear weapons, energy, food. The world must unite against Russian blackmail & ensure that life-saving 🇺🇦 grain exports are resumed in a safe manner.

I am shocked and saddened by the news of the tragic stampede in Seoul today. I want to send my condolences to the families and friends of the victims and my deepest sympathy to the people of South Korea. We stand with all South Koreans at this time of incredible pain.

Heartfelt congratulations to our hero Daria Chultsova for receiving the Journalist of the Year award at the media festival PRIX EUROPA. Daria was awarded while serving a 2-year sentence as a political prisoner - together with Katsiaryna Andreeva, who is still held by the regime.

The regime has added 625 persons to its phony list of 'extremists'. It includes activists, business leaders, journalists & volunteers fighting for Ukraine. The expansion of the list - it almost doubled this week - is another sign that political repression is still increasing.

One year ago, the illegitimate Belarus regime closed U.S. Embassy Minsk Public Diplomacy & USAID offices, incl. the American Center in Minsk. They will return to new Belarus. It is vital that we continue to work together with 🇺🇸 on all levels. We value their consistent support.

On the night of October 29-30, 1937, more than 100 Belarusian state figures, writers & scientists were shot in a prison in Minsk. This tragic date is known as the Night of the Shot Poets. It's heartbreaking to think that the same building is still used for political prisoners.

Proud to be invited to this year's Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo to honor Ales Bialiatski. This great hero of our people - a symbol for human rights - is still behind bars, like my husband & so many others. The award is for all of them, we must fight for their freedom.
