🎆Plot twist!🎆 Bsal, a new wildlife disease, threatens salamanders but it’s not in the US, yet. A new USGS study showed that to save our salamanders, it’s better to be consistently proactive than to wait until BSal arrives to manage for the disease. 👉ow.ly/SPij50T5e5l

Today, reservoirs across the U.S. are facing more severe periods of low-storage. A recent USGS study highlighted that reservoirs, designed for historical water conditions, are now struggling to adapt to changes in sediment and climate conditions. ➡️doi.org/10.1029/2024GL…

Did we mention we study streams? Our scientists routinely collect soil samples, test for contaminants, measure discharge, pebble size, tree cover, and more to rank stream suitability for things like fish habitat. This helps local wildlife managers care for stream habitats!
