We received the call that Caitlin’s flameless cremation happened yesterday. Her cremains will be here soon. 💔

It is my book birthday! 🥳🥳🥳 The Wings Upon Her Back is officially out! I'm going to celebrate by logging off and spending most of the day writing. ;D

The home for Caitlin’s urn arrived. It is now where her bed used to be. We’re filling it with different things that celebrate the adventures and love she experienced. 💔

Caitlin update. After some ridiculous delays, Caitlin’s body is finally leaving Lurie Children’s Hospital and is off to the flameless cremation center. Lynne M. Thomas 🏳️‍🌈🦄🚀 & I are very much not well. No parent should have to watch their child die, though thank god she wasn’t alone.

The Space Unicorn was always Caitlin.

Lynne and I will forever be missing a large piece of our hearts.

Caitlin was the best of all of us-- the most pure, loving, fun, and kind person any of us will ever know. She fiercely loved life and the people who loved her. She brought all of us joy, and will be very, very missed. 3/4

Caitlin remained unresponsive and seizing throughout. (Our Caitlin was already gone before they removed her from the machines.) Lynne M. Thomas 🏳️‍🌈🦄🚀 and I are as devastated as you might imagine. We’re home now waiting for all of the cremation arrangements to get finalized. 2/4

Dear Friends and Family of Caitlin:
Caitlin passed away at 1 am this morning in the Lurie Children's Hospital PICU. We never left her side, and she was made comfortable for her last 10 hours. She listened to David Bowie, Neko Case, and the New Pornographers. 1/4

Caitlin update. We are in the Lurie Children’s Hospital PICU after a 4-seizure ambulance ride. We have the small room we had in 2019. 34 seizures today after barrels of emergency meds. Seems she also has a UTI. Waiting for Lynne to arrive with our things.
