Like anything else, randomize people to your intervention or not doing it and if you can't demonstrate benefits, don't offer it.

Black men deserve better than recommendations based on modeling, an imperfect science.

NIH should fund a trial in black men testing this. Black men may end up with more incontinence & impotence, but no better survival.

This is a dangerous and speculatory paper.

U.S. FDA 's cancer drug approval process is broken and needs a deep dive audit: Cancer is deadly, but 68% of the drugs approved by FDA have no evidence they increase survival
open.substack.com/pub/sensibleme… via Vinay Prasad MD MPH Is U.S. GAO or OIG at HHS going to do this audit?

Thanks for this important and groundbreaking work. And continuing to try to improve evidence requirements for FDA CDER approvals to protect patients.

Disappointing to see the The New York Times publish innuendo meant to stroke fear in the paper. If there is no evidence of this claim--- and there is not--- it should not be in the paper.

🤩 paper documenting the EvGen lifecycle of oncology drugs, most showing no OS benefit.

Do we want efficacious drugs? How much efficacy is enough? How much is “feeling” like we are helping worth vs objectively helping and what is the likelihood we are improving health?

👏👏👏
