There’s a rumor floating around that someone heard a Night Owl operating for the first time in almost a year on that last Tevel-2 AMSAT pass.

I've now done two POTA activations with my G90 and SOTAbeams linked dipole and I've made about 75 contacts, is this when I start a youtube channel and do the 'definitive guide' videos?

My first POTA activation today at K-0975 Waco Mammoth National Monument site
40 QSOs in :45 minutes
20 watt G90 into a SOTABEAMS linked dipole
Warm outside, need to work out how best to operate inside the car AC. Not bad for a lunch hour-ish.

Really nice surprise in the mail today; QSL card from New Zealand for a contact about 3 weeks ago. I broke into a friendly QSO and gave a signal report hoping it would be received positively. Had a good laugh and mentioned it was my longest 100W DX to date and then this showed up

Looks like I'm be acquiring a used G90 this week.
Itll be an interest gap filler between the sat-configured 1634 which was an anemic/boring QRP 5W rig, and the Kenwood TS-130 which has been my workhorse and a blast(!) but no waterfall or digital modes options and not 'portable'.

Six years ago today I received my first NOAA 'fax' from space. I was absolutely hooked. I went from this to AMSATs in about two weeks once I realized you could do two-way communication through magic space-toasters.

Very pleased with how this janky home brew fan dipole turned out. According to the Nano, I could lengthen 40 and 20 a smidge but since I only talk in the general SSB portion, it’s okay that they are a little short frankly.

Added a 10m segment to the janky fan dipole. It dialed in at 1:1 on 29.000 but 20/40 needed some TLC afterward. Proud to report less than 1.6 on all three bands on all phone segments I can work as a general. Still using a tuner but don’t need to much with decent construction.

Hey HAM radio, HAM isn’t an acronym. Stop capitalizing HAM. That’s not a GREEN water hose. You’re not a PRO golfer, or a LOYAL customer. It’s not too late to learn.
Don’t get me started on 73’s

The WA5BU radio club finishes up our first semester of activity in YEARS by bringing in Ruth for a chat about all things radio, STEM and youth on the air. Super proud of the students that met up 10 days before WFD and now have officers, new licenses, and a plan going forward.

Kind of a lame day thanks to while on campus at Baylor here in Waco. Barely caught the southernmost edge of the hard stuff, but it was enough to lose a windshield.
