Frank Field was a decent, moral, and thoughtful man. He was a great parliamentarian - he made our politics better and raised the level of national debate in this country.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family today.

Frank Field’s death is a huge loss to Parliament and public life.

He was fiercely independent-minded and happy to work across party lines on the issues he was so knowledgable about; to “think the unthinkable”.

I remain grateful for his review on poverty and life chances,

Will never forget first meeting Frank Field when, as a student, having invited him to speak at University of Exeter

An amazing, compassionate man and truly dedicated to public service. Thinking of his family and loved ones today.
