Republicans claim Patman has violated the ruling of Judge Sirica ordering government officials from discussing the Watergate case publicly. Patman writes to Sirica saying the halting his investigation is interfering with government business.

A bomb threat is called in on The Watergate commercial office buildings on the corner of 600 New Hampshire and 2550 Virginia Ave. The complex has been evacuated.

The Los Angeles Times releases their article by Jack Nelson and Ronald Ostrow that details the account of Alfred Baldwin at the Howard Johnson the night of the Watergate break-in.

The article was released after urging from both Baldwin's lawyers and Justice officials not to release the article indefinitely until the criminal trial has definitively concluded. The release of the article could jeopardize Baldwin's immunity granted by the DOJ.

Baldwin gives details about his relationship with McCord and his involvement in illegal surveillance of the DNC including transcribing telephone communications of Spencer Oliver and hand delivering them to CRP officials at their office across the street from the White House.

Baldwin says he never questioned the legality of the surveillance work given the number of CRP officials and former White House aides that were aware of his duties and reviewed his work frequently; Baldwin assumed it was a legal work.

Police conclude their search of explosives after a bomb threat was made to two Watergate complex buildings on the commercial side. An all clear has been given for people to return to their offices.

In a public response to Patman's inquiry, Judge Sirica clarifies that his gag order on political discussion of the break-in is not intended to affect congressional activity and an investigation in the legislative branch can continue.

William Bittman files a motion to hold Alfred Baldwin in contempt of court after giving a five hour interview to the Los Angeles Times. Bittman tells the press "All I'm trying to do is to see that the constitutional rights of my client are protected."

A second bomb threat is made to The Watergate prompting a second evacuation and search by police officers. The woman's voice is said to match the first call. A similar bomb threat was also made the Federal Reserve System offices.

In a poll conducted by The Washington Post, The Post asked "Which of the two parties is most free from scandals?" The results: 14% said the Republican Party, 10% said the Democratic Party, and 74% said there is no difference between the parties on this issue.

The poll also shows that voters cared most about electing someone who could handle the economy and that a majority favored Nixon's handling of the economy.

Police conclude their second search of explosives after another bomb threat was made to two Watergate buildings at 10:30 AM. A second all clear has been given for people to return to their offices.

John Mitchell tells FBI Agent Lano that Martha was mis-quoted in the UPI paper and that neither she or him self know anything about the break-in and would only want an interview to take place in DC and not in New York.

In a small press interview in the Oval Office, President Nixon says he supports the FBI investigation and comments that it's been so thorough that it makes the Alger Hiss case look like "a Sunday school exercise."

Nixon dismisses McGovern's accusations of Nixon being the "most corrupt and deceitful [President] in history", calling McGovern's campaign tactics "shrill and irresponsible."

A third bomb threat is made to The Watergate, this time a different voice is detected than the previous two. A search is conducted without evacuation.

The GAO informed the Justice Department of three possible campaign violations committed by the McGovern campaign committee involving foreign donations, improper record keeping, and political advertising without authentic disclosure.

Maurice Stans meets with Nixon to discuss the ongoing congressional investigation. Stans also informs Nixon of his own fundraising accomplishments, telling Nixon he raised nearly $7 million in a single fundraising event.
