Much warmer and drier weather returns next week, though, with temperatures well into the 80s across inland areas likely. [4/4]

Lower atmospheric temps, more relevant to those of us who live at surface of Earth (erm, most of us!), will also be quite cool relative to typical May values, but likely not record-breaking. But this does mean it'll be cold/wet weekend, with late season Sierra snow! [3/4]

500mb heights (a measure of the vertical elevation of the 'half mass' pressure surface, which is essentially an aggregate indicator of the overall temperature of the lower half of air column) will be near or at record low levels for early May in far NorCal. [2/4]

Impressive late-season low pressure system will bring short, sharp hit of cold rain (and mountain snow above ~4k ft) this wknd. Nearly everywhere in NorCal should see good soaking, w/lighter showers into SoCal. This will be quite a cold system by May standards... [1/4]

BTW--is anyone aware of an automated tool that exists at this point to copy posts from one social media platform to another? Right now I'm still doing it manually which is very time consuming and means that in practice I'm not sharing the same content on all platforms.

A lot of folks have been fixated on changes to sulfur in marine fuels of late, but the much bigger climate story here is the nearly 50% decline in overall global emissions of planet-cooling sulfur dioxide since 1980 – much of which has happened in the last 15 years:

Residents in the beautiful, but extreme, Santa Cruz Mountains have lived through historic fires, climate-change charged storms & weeks-long power outages.

Now, insurers are dropping out of the area & pushing people to the edge.
