DFSS Commissioner Brandie Knazze says Chicago’s 60-day shelter limit for migrants will be suspended amid blizzard/subzero chills until Jan 22 at earliest

Mayor Brandon Johnson said at least 10 warming buses will be at the migrant landing zone. City will transport them to Park District facilities for showers, work w medical care volunteers. “We are not kicking out migrants in the cold this winter”

Johnson also said the city secured “private funding” for meals at landing zone via a group called “Chi Care,” ~4,000 meals provided at landing zone in past two weeks.

As the Chicago battles a second round of snow and rain, migrants continue to arrive in the city. One bus is expected today. A total of 141 migrants are sheltering in warming buses, receiving food at the city’s landing zone.
