My sister is spending time watching the many house martins around her house and twice she has seen parent birds feeding their fledglings in flight.

Inspired by Sarah Gibson's image of House Martins building their nests under Swift nest boxes I'm tempted to start a thread called #RightBoxWrongAnimal showing wildlife using artificial habitat in unexpected ways. This is 'hornets on a bat box' 🙂

A couple of guys were picking sacks of rowan berries on the old racecourse today. It turns out they were collecting for a local tree seed company. So the offspring of these lovely trees will grow into thousands more. Plenty of berries left for the coming redwings too.

Up and out before the sun rose for a walk in cool air. Snatches of willow warbler and chiffchaff song, bullfinches and long-tailed tits, weaving along the hedge, chattering to each other.

Doors wide open and I heard that sound again....a swift! Two of them over my garden.
