With repeated and prolonged flooding this winter & in recent years, the Longdon Marsh basin has proved repeatedly how important this site is, and likely to be increasingly so in the future as 'extreme' flooding events become the norm.

It’s also important to think carefully before sharing sightings (e.g. on social media) of rare breeding birds in the breeding season - could this lead to disturbance, or worse? Read the RBBP guidance here tinyurl.com/RBBPsound. If in doubt, don’t!

Counting small birds in large flocks is always difficult. Photography used to great effect here by Phil to secure an accurate count of Linnet.

On the edge of the increasing Welsh & Cotswolds populations, #Worcs has been a little slow to keep up the pace as seen in other areas. But the increase in Red Kite records in the last five years has been dramatic. A visualisation using the power of BirdTrack data #WorcsBirds

The work of county bird recorders in collating records is vital for the RBBP - about 2/3 of our data comes through their submissions. In a NEW BLOG Shaun Robson Shaun Robson describes his work as rare breeding bird recorder for Dorset Bird Club tinyurl.com/RBBPDorset
