These long-term data sets are crucial to establishing population trends and changes in distribution and abundance to make effective conservation action and policy decisions possible
The new England species abundance indicator has been published by Defra UK bit.ly/3Utq2Nt
This indicator uses & analyses data from many of the surveillance schemes run by JNCC & partners: Breeding Bird Surveys, Wetland Bird Survey, UK Seabird Monitoring Programme, UK RBBP, National Plant Monitoring Scheme, UKBMS Live Data & National Bat Monitoring Programme (NBMP)
👏 This years Bittern survey RSPB Lakenheath Fen in Suffolk had surveyors listening for Bittern's ‘booming’ - their deep throated call to attract a mate. Previously the maximum heard on site was 12 - this year they recorded 17! Find out about Lakenheath Fen👉 bit.ly/3UiZrCP
