The inflation figure used by politicians and the media is 3.2%. So why do we say inflation is actually 4.3%?

Unite bases wage claims on RPI inflation, rather than CPI. RPI includes housing costs and better reflects the actual price rises experienced by workers.

Falling inflation does not mean falling prices. Concentrating only on the current inflation rate hides the impact of years of high inflation. Unite Reps won't forget the past three years.

Minimum wage rates increased on 1st April. But the idea that any of these rates could be called a 'living wage' is just a cynical branding exercise.

Organising in the workplace is the only way to stop poverty pay.
