We need to collectively invest in non-university-based collectives for thinking, publishing, employing, and organizing. If it wasn't already obvious to you that the university is all but entirely captured by the neoliberal-imperial police state, it should be now after last night.

It turns out that building universities on the neoliberal model of dependence upon billionaire donors, who in turn use universities as tools for dismantling public systems and the regulatory and tax codes that support them, has some downsides.

The Biden campaign's campus outreach strategy is... unusual.

Supporting Biden means normalizing police-state repression of dissent, dismantling universities, and devotion to apartheid and genocide, pushing the Dems further right than the 2016 GOP. The consequences for 2028 and beyond are not good. 2024 isn't just about the next four years.

Encouraged by Shafik's compliance, the GOP will now go after federal funding for universities. Trump will almost certainly beat Biden. And we will see in the coming years the dismantling of any remaining semblance of the liberal university. An almost poetic neoliberal self-own.

It's so incredibly clear that the police stood aside and let a pro Israeli lynch mob run wild at UCLA. They did nothing for two hours as violent Zionists assaulted students, launched fireworks into the encampment, and sprayed mace on students.

Repressive anti-democratic leaders don’t typically personally oversee police-state assaults. They produce the material (police funding), legal (police impunity), and ideological conditions (see below) for them to proceed. Trump ought to take notes; Biden is giving a masterclass.
