In the shallow Yangtze and Rhine deltas, flat-bottomed sailing craft made use of leeboards. Over time the Dutch leeboard was refined: deep and narrow for seagoing fishing vessels and round and shallow for the sailing barges on lakes and rivers. tseg.nl/article/view/1…
