When we build cycle lanes, lots of people benefit, even if they’re not cycling. As part of the Binley cycleway scheme, there’s:

✅ Several new zebra crossings
✅ New improved pavement
✅ Reduced speeding through narrowed car lanes (capacity retained)
✅ More trees being planted

The BBC News (UK) page has a handy personalised guide on saving money during the cost of living crisis.

Except it totally ignores two key free/low cost modes of transport: cycling + walking. In 2020, 25% of all trips were under 1 mile, 71% under 5 miles; perfect for active travel.

Happy birthday to Eileen Sheridan, who is 99 today.

Joining Coventry Cycling Club in 1944, Eileen went on to break just about every distance record there is, including setting the new London-Edinburgh record of 20h 11m 35s. The time was set in 1954 and is yet to be broken.

It is wonderful to see parents discovering cargo bikes as a fun, green and easy way to do the school run.
