Finding space in Sheffield to put on events has become increasingly difficult. Uni’s hoover up a lot. It’s grating as a WOC, a Black woman to watch mostly white men take up that space, get their demands met then get the funding to do it. Time to move? Are other cities like this?

Excellent event from Festival of Debate this evening, discussing the University of Sheffield's funding of the arms trade. Quality research revealed the (staggering) scale of complicity. Good also to discuss different approaches to resistance including trade unionism and direct action

As DWYS deepens its work in the archives, I am compelled to think about the destruction of archives & libraries in Gaza. Severing a people's connection with their past is a deeply violent act and will reverberate for generations. A tragic loss that should be mourned and decried.
