Overlooked Pre-Raphaelite John Dickson Batten was born 8 October 1860 in Plymouth. In 'The Garden of Adonis—Amoretta and Time', Spenser's Amoretta is distraught when Time cruelly scythes down the flowers of ephemeral beauty. Her posture says everything about the human condition.

People are taking this in bad faith but I get it. Loving your subject matter is nice (we all ‘love’ what we do at times, to some extent) but you can’t love it unconditionally. Really loving something also doesn’t necessarily make you a good researcher or teacher of said thing.

it feels wrong to say I ‘like’ this sculpture because it actually makes me feel deeply disconcerted and it is - I think - one of the most distressing depictions of Medusa and yet that’s why I chose it for the prompt because I find it so arresting
