Whenever he’s asked about Diane Abbott, Keir Starmer hides behind an “ongoing” investigation that it now turns out finished 5 months ago.

The lying is scummy but the cowardice is worse in a man who will probably be prime minister.

Starmer has repeatedly insisted that the investigation into Diane Abbott was ongoing so he couldn't comment, but it turns out that was yet another lie. He is apparently addicted to dishonesty.

The UK is about to elect Boris Johnson v2.0.

'I can support 7 months of bombing homes, hospitals and schools. I can support 7 months of starvation. I can even support 7 months of indiscriminate slaughter. But I draw the line at horrendous images'

Let me get this straight - you're telling us that Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with you lads, or chaos with Keir Starmer?

Because that didn't really work out so well last time, did it?

The notion that Labour needs to ape the Tories in order to win over middle-England and hence the next election, but once voted into power they'll shift left and won't do all the stuff they say they're going to do strikes me as naive, anti-democratic and borderline fraudulent.

The weird thing about this National Service palaver is that Sunak could promise *anything*. He's clearly not going to win so why not promise a free owl for everyone, or to fire Jacob Rees-Mogg into the sun or something?

A reminder that ten Labour frontbenchers, including eight shadow minsters, resigned their posts because Starmer threatened to sack them if they backed a ceasefire in Gaza.

So farewell then, Michael Gove. Such a shame we won't see his uncanny puppet on Spitting Image again.

I hear the party with 2 Scottish MPs is refusing to take part in any televised debate which includes the small party with only 43 MPs.

Dutch evening TV news (NPO Journaal) is rather more informative about British history than the (dutifully curated) BBC: “As a former colony that long fought against British rule, Ireland recognises the Palestinian struggle against oppression.”

I see that wee lad who tells us he's a genius at planning has just announced a while standing in the pissing rain without an umbrella.

Hi Keir Starmer - when should we expect your statement on the International Criminal Court’s decision to open war crimes cases against Benjamin Netanyahu for the IDF’s barbaric actions in Gaza?

Fixed that for you.

England is the only country in the world to have fully privatised its water and sewerage system.

Via the Financial Times: 'Scotland—which has its own state-owned water company—massively outperformed its neighbours with water standards similar to much of Scandinavia.'

What Have Fourteen Years of Conservative Rule Done to Britain? Living standards have fallen. The country is exhausted by constant drama. But the UK can’t move on from the Tories without facing up to the damage that has occurred.

This is quite telling:
* Almost 2/3rds of folk living in Scotland consider themselves to be 'Scottish only'
* Fewer than 1 in 7 consider themselves 'British only'
* Those who feel 'Scottish and British' fell from about 1 in 5 to about 1 in 12.
