Ah removing COVID prevention measures, such as mask requirements, does not make COVID go away, returning us to 'normal'. It actually does the exact opposite. Please forward to those who misunderstand this.

On 1 April 2021 I was contacted by a newspaper journalist.. 1/

What a difference it would make if COVID mitigation measures were referred to as “protections” in the media vs. “restrictions”.

As we settle into this “new normal” of astronomically high cases, 1000’s of daily deaths and an under vaccinated population, I think of all the healthcare workers who will bear witness to the consequences of our decision to “move on”.

I think there’s a fundamental misunderstanding in much of the public about surges. They seem like the tides, rising and falling on their own. So, the thinking goes, protect yourself when it’s high and then take everything off as soon as it’s going down. /1
