A huge fan of this work--especially neat to see that, although rare variants contribute much less to missing heritability and risk stratification (expected), they mechanistically converge with common variants (which is non-intuitive but has powerful implications)

Excited to share our work on genome editing for SMA in Science Magazine! We evaluated dozens of strategies targeting SMN2 regulatory sequences to rescue SMN levels, and show that one-time in vivo co-administration of our top strategy with nusinersen extends lifespan of SMA mice.

Can we precisely rewrite the genetic code - make a single DNA spelling change - in the liver of a human being for clinical effect? YES! Scientific milestone: VERVE-101 provides first proof-of-concept for in vivo DNA base editing in humans Clinical implication: It’s early
