Listening to young Australians and enshrining a Duty of Care to protect their futures shouldn’t be a radical proposal in 2024.

Worth reading some of the background to my Duty of Care Bill that’s before the Parliament.

A brilliant discussion with anjali sharma about her climate Duty of Care Bill with @mon4kooyong

Doctors owe a duty of care to their patients, and we owe a duty of care to future generations and absolutely must fulfil it. Sign her petition to get this done. Link in comments.

Was great to host anjali sharma alongside Zoe Daniel MP (she/her) tonight in a packed Hawthorn Arts Centre for a special Town Hall on her climate Duty of Care Bill.

Like doctors owe a duty of care to their patients, we owe a duty of care to future generations and absolutely must fulfil it.

Should the Australian government owe a duty of care to children & future generations when making decisions that will worsen climate change?

Morally, yes absolutely.

Now Anj Sharma and allies are trying to get this duty written into a new law. A must-watch AustralianStory

This should cause deep introspection in a few newsrooms and among boosters in this country:

unfortunately this is how all referenda ever have worked. australians have always voted on principle and accepted that details will come later, because Parliament will not waste money on legislating structure until the country supports the premise. this was always going to happen

Whatever happens this afternoon, when the Federal Court hands down a decision in the climate change case, all decision-makers in Australia should have a statutory duty of care to consider how their actions affect current and future children adutyofcare.davidpocock.com.au

4 years ago today. 200,000 people turned up to the climate strike in Melbourne. we worked so hard to make this happen
crazy that today we see climate disaster on a global scale and STILL young people are owed no duty of care to be protected from the impacts of climate change
