Join us for CITA seminar at 3PM with Antonella Palmese from Carnegie Mellon University, who will present on latest advances in multi-messenger astronomy and provide forecasts for multi-messenger cosmology in the coming years. #gravitationalWaves, #astronomy
"Why are satellites becoming easier and easier to see in the night sky, and why are astronomers so incredibly worried about this?" Dr. Samantha Lawler University of Regina will provide the answer to this and many other questions on Tuesday, May 14, 7PM at the 55 Meeting of AAS Dynamical.
Neutrino luminosity consistent with the extragalactic diffuse IceCube signal is providing clues on supermassive black hole populations at high redshifts. Join CITA seminar on May 27 with Dr. Rostom Mbarek (JSI Prize Fellow, Univ. of Maryland/NASA Goddard ).
Thank you #IrinaTziamali from #INCLUSIVEMINDS for the highly engaging content of the two day workshop "Unravelling EDI". The event was made possible through a partnership between CITA, Dunlap Institute, DADDAA, and the McDonald Institute EDI fund. Bart Ripperda Dr./Prof. Renée Hložek
Tonight: You're invited to a private screening of the Bending Light Documentary! Chat with Maya Fishbach & Quirks & Quarks host Bob McDonald post-show! 📍 Spadina Theatre, 24 Spadina Road, Toronto 📷 6:30 PM 📷 Q&A after 📷 Free entry, RSVP needed 📷karmafilm.ca/bendinglight📱
Q&A with Quirks & Quarks Bob McDonald, director Alan Goldman Alan Goldman and Maya Fishbach at the pre-screening of Bending Light Documentary recounting the solar eclipse expedition in 1922 that helped prove Einstein’s theory of general relativity. Watch on Super Channel, June 8.
Why are stars and ISM separate fields in research? New publication by Piyush Sharda, Yuan-Sen Ting 丁源森, OSU Astronomy and CITA Postdoc Neige Frankel shows that APOGEE data can constrain ISM physics (outflow, turbulence) without needing an ad hoc chemical model (e.g., MDF, AMR).
Tonight The Great Hall, another great opportunity to marvel at new scientific discovery and have fun with astrophysicists from Dunlap Institute, CITA and UofT D. A. Dunlap Dept of Astronomy & Astrophysics.
