Great to see so many folk in Aberdeen oppose fascism and bigotry but also support and celebrate our diversity. A special shout-out to my pal David. He gave a great speech on the need to not just react to the far right but to organise in our communities. Nae pasaran! ✊

Managed to visit the Belmont Cinema open day during the Big Belmont Bash.  My pal Jacob and his team are doing a fantastic job bringing the cinema back to life! Also managed to enjoy the sun in Union Terrace Gardens. We’re so lucky to call Aberdeen home.

"We can’t afford to fail." As The Belmont Cinema celebrates #OpenDoorsDay this weekend, here's my take on the importance of independent Scottish cinemas like the Belmont. Many thanks to Jacob Campbell for chatting. heraldscotland.com/life_style/245…

BREAKING: We're demanding a full investigation into Scottish Government mishandling of the Peterhead gas project application. The First Minister's response to our allegations is full of inconsistencies, weak excuses and provides no new evidence to support its claims.

It is dishonest to claim that cuts to the SFRS have been prevented. FBU Scotland members need more than warm words and clever accounting; they need action. We need to reverse these cuts, raise standards, and keep our firefighters and the public safe. dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/…

Scotland faces a fiscal crisis and the £500m in cuts will undermine policy ambition. We cannot cut our way to a fairer, greener, more prosperous economy. We need to harness redistributive revenue-raising measures. Our co-director Miriam Brett with Colin Mackay on ScotlandTonight.

Polls like these should focus minds. For the Scottish Greens, we can have our best election ever and have renewed influence on whomever leads the Scottish government. We need real change, and we need to get to work for every vote.

🟢 Yes: 64 🔴 No: 2 The Scottish Parliament has backed the Scottish Green policy of free school meals for P1-7. The vote sends a clear signal to the SNP that this policy - which tackles poverty, inequality, stigma and the attainment gap - must be a priority.

The news from Grangemouth is grim. For too long, politicians have been asleep at the wheel. We need a real just transition from fossil fuels, co-developed with workers and their communities. We need a plan, and we need people capable of delivering it. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

There can be no just transition at Grangemouth if the workforce have been made redundant. For too long Scottish Ministers have let big business dictate the terms and pace of the energy transition - an approach that fails both the climate and workers. foe.scot/press-release/…

It is often claimed that rent controls never work. But is this actually true? Our new analysis looks at the evidence, and finds that well-designed rent controls could help tackle Scotland’s housing crisis futureeconomy.scot/posts/57-can-r…

There must be a thorough investigation by Scottish Government into these claims Ministers broke the rules. Public trust is critical because the consequences of Ministers backing new fossil fuels at Peterhead will be felt in higher energy bills and climate pollution for the next 25+ years.

Capture carbon consistently fails - it has done for decades. Greedy energy companies SSE & Equinor want permission to build a new gas burning power station in Peterhead. This project would worsen Scotland’s biggest climate polluter. Sign the petition👇 act.foe.scot/stop-peterhead…

Bringing down fares is a win-win-win of a positive climate policy. ✅ public support ✅ improve people's lives + connectedness ✅ cut climate pollution The Transport Minister must use her power and her budget to scrap peak fares permanently.

More lives lost due to the climate crisis. My thoughts are with the loved ones of those affected. Firefighters, in Scotland and around the world, save lives in the face of fires and floods. They deserve to be properly funded and protected. theguardian.com/world/2024/sep…

Thanks to @BBCQuestionTime for having me on this evening. We discussed crucial issues facing the UK, including the proposed cuts to winter fuel payments. I argued that what looks like savings in the short term might be a cost in the long term. Cutting support to vulnerable

Everywhere we look, peace is under attack. From Gaza, to Sudan, to Ukraine and beyond we see: Civilians in the firing line. Homes blown apart. Traumatised, terrified populations. This catalogue of human misery must stop. Our world needs peace. #PeaceDay
