Students can now access Dublin bikes for just over 5 cent a day. Along with the 50% reduction in public transport fares for students we have brought in, it's now easier than ever for students to get around! dublinbikes.ie/en/offers/grou…

I'll be speaking to NewstalkFM at 5:45 about the threat posed by the increase in "loophole" imports of monster pickup trucks from the US. More dangerous. More polluting. And they hog more space on our roads. We don't want them: we don't need them.

Solidarity to all library staff facing the far-right, who are beginning to target them again. Staff should be protected from harassment and abuse, and Irish society needs to come together to stop the rising hate. We are many, they are few!

On Monday, average childcare costs will come down to HALF the cost of 2 years ago. Early learning and care have transformed under Minister for Children Roderic O’Gorman TD. Now, the state needs to become a provider, guarantee spaces for all and increase pay for educators.

🗳️Childcare is going to be an election issue ✅So it's absolutely brilliant to see Roderic O’Gorman TD and the Green Party Ireland commit to a public system ❓Will the other parties follow suit? #EveryChild #Childcare greenparty.ie/news/green-par… SIPTU - The Early Years Union Fórsa trade union

📢From next Monday, childcare costs will fall again for thousands of parents using the NCS. The next increase in hourly NCS subsidy will mean a maximum saving of €1,731.60 per child, per year for a family using full-time childcare. Taken together with last year's increase,

What we're doing is working. The OECD assessment of Ireland's affordability indicators shows that from 2022-2023: ▶️ For average income families, the % of household income spent on full-time childcare fell from 27% - 17% for couples, and from 17% to 7% for a single parent. ▶️

Pádraic thanks for taking time to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the good work underway by National Parks and Wildlife Service and partners to #restorenature in our national parks and nature reserves.

Someone asked me recently where to advertise non-profit comms roles in Ireland. Any thoughts? I have a few spots in mind, but my info might be a few years out of date!

Families are having to bear too much of the burden to make childcare work - that's why we're proud to be increasing supports, and looking to expand them even more. newstalk.com/news/childcare…

Some big news: Dublin City Council will no longer permit plastic bags to be used for waste collection on 90 streets of the core city centre (the overwhelmingly commerical area marked on the map). The move from bags starts this month: it'll be mandatory by January.

This is what an efficient bus and active travel network should look like 🙌 🚌 🚶‍♀️ 🚲 ♿️ This is at 8:50am. Each bus is near full. Well done Dublin City Council 👏 And everyone involved in making sure the Transport Plan went through Dublin Commuters

Usually with a traffic change, there's a few weeks of messiness before it works. But the changes to the quays have rapidly made such a difference to the bus, and have visibly calmed traffic. This is a post from Reddit, but I've had so many positive messages in recent days.

Not to be dramatic but I think the traffic changes on the quays has genuinely changed my life. My commute is HALVED at the very least. Absolutely amazing.

I spoke with Olivia Kelly to share an update on the Dublin City Centre Transport Plan. Early signs are promising for dublinbusnews and our customers. We are actively monitoring the impact across the city and providing updates to both the NTA and DCC. irishtimes.com/ireland/dublin…

Delighted to welcome British PM Keir Starmer to Ireland today on behalf of the Irish Government. The continued improvement in British-Irish relations is very welcome and this visit will help strengthen them all the more.
