“Entrepreneurship is the path to fuel this country’s growth.” Great piece by Jimmy McLoughlin 🐑🇺🇦 on why the new Govt needs to back Britain’s entrepreneurs thetimes.com/article/3d8721…
Universities have great convening power - to host donor networks, connect them to local causes and charities, and bring in volunteers and businesses to support local community work. More on this from Adam Hawksbee for the Kerslake Collection of essays 👇
I founded the WiTT Forum in 2021 to meet other women in policy & encourage more women into think tanks. Now, with the Forum over 100 members strong, I'm delighted to stand down as Chair & hand WiTT over to two excellent new Co-Chairs, Ellen Pasternack and florence! 1/3
“We are being torn apart by a meek liberal consensus at the top of society and a cowardly nascent racism at the bottom. People only seem capable of calling out one and not the other.” A brilliant read by James Johnson
Check out my colleague Phoebe Arslanagić-Little’s brilliant new campaign “A New Deal for Parents” - calling for better parental leave and pay and all things to make sure young people are not priced out of parenthood.
I'm biased - but this was the most eye-catching graph in Phoebe Arslanagić-Little's New Deal for Parents report we previewed today. British dads (plus their partners & newborns) get a terrible deal on statuary paternity leave, far worse than in most other OECD nations, bar Chile. 1/2
At the New Deal for Parents, we say improving the parental employment rights system will make it easier for people to become and be parents. Does anyone think that 2 weeks of Statutory Paternity Leave is enough? Here I am on BBC News (UK) calling for SPL to triple to 6 weeks.
⚡️Kickstarting the electric vehicle transition was a success of the last Conservative Government. My piece in ConservativeHome explains how and why the Tories should maintain support for the transition in opposition. conservativehome.com/2024/08/19/ell…
A v enjoyable read from Emma Revell
