Most of #Plymouth must be Team Daley, surely? One of his first book signings happened to be on his birthday, so I gave him a handmade card. He is genuinely lovely, and his family are clearly proud of him. 🇬🇧 #Paris2024 #TeamDaley

🚨 MASSIVE NEWS 🚨 The British Medical Association has requested that the implementation of the Cass Reviews recommendations now be paused AND trans patients of ALL AGES to continue to receive healthcare. This is so its own evaluation of the doomed Cass review can take place.

Thank you The BMA for supporting vital healthcare for young trans people. “It is time that we truly listen to this group of important, valued, and unfortunately often victimised people and, together, build a system in which they are finally provided with the care they deserve.”

This weekend has shown some of the worst of our country. Racism, violence, Islamophobia. But it's also shown some of the best of us. There is a story to be told of humanity and resilience. Let's tell it. 1/13 🧵

I’ve lived in Plymouth for eight years now. Nowhere makes me feel more like a home than here, & this city is made better by the many cultures of the people in it. #LoveNotHate #Plymouth #NoToFascism

This is absolutely obscene. We have seen UK LGBT groups, news orgs, and more absolutely abandon transgender people. Throw them to the dirt. Trans people are "too contentious" to report our stories, apparently. This is why we need strong, independent, trans journalism.

UK school librarians told to remove LGBTQ books, including titles like Heartstopper. This is Section 28 by the back door. You can’t teach children to be gay but you can teach them that it’s ok if they are. attitude.co.uk/culture/hearts…

I love the Paralympics, but I *will* scream if anyone else suggests they'll be a breakthrough moment for disabled people Me for The Persistent thepersistent.com/email/c02f8e79…

While “a lot of the paralympians for the 2032 games aren’t disabled yet” is a good point I really really bloody hate this threat of “you better respect us because you could become one of us”. Like you could just respect disabled people nonstop.

Whilst you’re watching the #Paralympics please remember that ordinary disabled people are still facing systematic ableism everyday. The Paralympics are an accessible bubble, society is not

I spoke with disabled activists outside Parliament and got my copy of this essential book on DWP-related deaths. It's vital that they are able to speak to MPs about this scandal. Disappointed this didn't happen today, but looking forward to attending a rearranged meeting.

UK watching Paralympics: “Wow! So impressive! So inspiring!” UK the rest of the time: “Disabled people are scroungers who should get back to work but also we won’t employ you, won’t adapt our workplaces, and won’t ensure public transport is accessible enough to get you there.”
