1/ I did my own little hackathon last weekend designing EGFR binders for Adaptyv Bio's protein design competition. I was really excited to see that my submissions took the top 10 spots in the virtual scoring phase! I got some DMs asking about my process so here's a thread:

Just to save some of you the trouble: It reads: "Candidates applying for a position at the Assistant Professor level are expected to have K99/R00 grants or equivalent and develop a rigorous extramurally funded research program."

This is one of the more interesting articles I have read this year: the former dean of Harvard Medical School had a start-up in the late 1980s based on using GLP1s to treat diabetes and weight loss, but Pfizer stopped funding it despite promising early results. Two lessons:

See--they don't all require a K99!! "Successful candidates will be provided laboratory and office space at the Medical School along with a competitive start-up package to develop a robust research program." 1/2

I’m overjoyed to announce that my K99/R00 proposal has been funded by The National Institute on Aging (NIA) as of today!! I am very excited about the project which is a collaboration with Lehtinen Lab to study the blood-CSF barrier with new analytical tools I’ve developed in the Gygi Lab. Feeling grateful!!

What an amazing way to start the lab! We cant wait to uncover more mechanisms of oligodendrocyte and myelin plasticity and learn how it impacts cognitive aging. More details in our website - weizmann.ac.il/molneuro/iram/ DM or email me if you are interested to join the team! #ERCStG
