Why does this matter?

All three projects can also use Babylon as a data availability (DA) layer to increase the efficiency of data publishing to the L1.

This provides significant promise, having Babylon as a core component of the emerging Bitcoin Layer 2 ecosystem.

a) Lorenzo Protocol is a liquid staking BTC L2-as-a-Service that allows their L2s to stake BTC

b) Bison Labs is a BTC ZK-STARK rollup with general programmability

c) Nubit a Bitcoin-native data availability layer

Rollups-as-a-Service provider AltLayer has integrated with Babylon to provide Bitcoin security for a range of verification purposes, such as securing cross-chain transfers.

This will integrate with any AltLayer-based rollup, further extending the utility of staked BTC.

Babylon Timestamping protocol is already integrated with 60+ Cosmos-based blockchains.

This ecosystem already has 94+ independent chains representing $75B+ in market cap, representing huge potential. And as more emerge, Babylon will be the go-to solution.

Bitcoin Timestamping

PoS networks can also use Babylon to send timestamps to the Bitcoin network that contain critical consensus data.

This has two effects:
a) It mitigates the risk of long-range attacks; and
b) It reduces the stake unbonding time from 21 days to a few hours…

BTC holders can increase the total value of assets staked on a PoS chain, without relying on 3rd party custody/bridging/wrapping.

In return, they earn yield on their BTC while remaining in full control of their assets.

If warranted, slashing occurs natively on Bitcoin.
