Lots of minor story updates in this week's legal breakdown, and time to get real on the implications of the upcoming election on digital asset development in the U.S. Here's everything that happened in Web3 law last week: nfttorney.com/2024/08/20/off…

We as a citizenship have give a mouse a cookied away all freedoms from unwarranted government surveillance out of fear of a terrorist boogyman. It's not too late to take our privacy rights back, though. #MakeTheFourthAmendmentGreatAgain

BUSY week in court for crypto, with major developments in cases involving Kraken, Lido, and Consensys. In addition to the usual administrate agency rigmarole. Here's everything that happened last week in Web3 law: nfttorney.com/2024/08/27/off…

Calling it now. OS/ME get the SEC treatment like Coinbase/Kraken. Blur gets the DOJ/SEC double whammy like Binance (maybe CFTC too? But idk if the CFTC is looking to get into the shitcoins with jpgs regulatory game and are more focused on prediction markets)

Absurd. Let me rant for a second... The SEC’s relentless pursuit of NFTs under the guise of regulatory oversight is a farce. For years, the SEC has been fixated on bringing digital assets like NFTs, which are predominantly used for consumptive purposes, within their jurisdiction

This Rep. Ritchie Torres throwback feels relevant given today’s news that U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has chosen OpenSea as the next target of their regulation by enforcement strategy (AKA scare innovation offshore)

While everyone's looking at France there's a Pavel Durov case going on right now in the U.S. The U.S. v. STORM trial on December 4th will decide the fate of digital rights in the U.S. for a generation. But we're going to lose if we don't fund it. $2m is needed for legal

Lawyers should wear priestly robes and hold staffs with marble caps while taking client calls. This is a service business and it's fair for clients to expect their lawyers to dress like oracular mystics.

This video👇is of Tigran Gambaryan, the former US federal agent who led many of the biggest crypto crime cases in history. He's being charged in Nigeria with money laundering and tax evasion, entirely for the actions of his employer, Binance. He's now been jailed and denied

Damn, pretty big dub for Coinbase in its Motion to Compel. Of course the SEC will (likely) over designate as deliberative process privilege and more fights to come, but complying with the Order will take substantial resources which will take heat off other crypto companies.
