Alex Dimitrov aria آریا I don’t think this connects to what she posted. & I hope in moments my silence becomes also the silence of bread & water or worse, the silence after bombs & soundtrack for genocide, someone like her opens my eyes & mouth however they can. There’s no best way to ask to live.

I don't know why cis white men poets feel the need to prove political relevance during catastrophic genocide. aria آریا & Natalie Diaz are some of the most astoundingly compelling poets of our time, yet here we go, interrupting them at a time like this with privileged nonsense.

Aria Aber and Natalie Diaz write some of the most complex, lyrically astounding poems of our time. They look history in the mouth and pull. They show up in community, change minds, ask people to look up and outward. And yes, they also write love poems.

This desecration. While US lit orgs decline to publicly express that they--as entities that purport to exist to share the free passage of the individual human voice--are silent as other humans are massacred with our weapons. What about the books they will never read or write?

heartening to see Macklemore return to his roots. before he popped off decade ago, he was running in anti-capitalist radical circles in the west coast & did few fundraiser shows for us (grassroots anti-colonial, anti-capitalist migrant justice group). movements keep us grounded.

Zadie Smith has had consistently liberal (not leftist) politics, and has also consistently shown a belief in her own exceptionalism (as have critics at large)
