Thanks the new Spanish EU Presidency for hosting the EU Joint Action on Networks of Expertise. Cancer care networking can be such an added value of Europe that its many challenges must be addressed assertively, first working on the interplay between the EU and the national level!

My take: our common advocacy about healthcare networking in the EU should focus on viewing it as networking of national/regional networking and allowing the role of full partners to scientific/professional societies as well as patient advocacy groups.

We cannot overstate the importance of accurate diagnosis & effective treatment in the fight against cancer.

This is why the Joint Action on Networks of Expertise ( #JANE ) was created, presented today by Paolo G Casali

My point: development of drugs in oncology can be agnostic, but then their clinical positioning should be investigated within the specific cancer (however defined)…

Our EU Joint Action paving the way to 7 new European Networks of Expertise launched today in Milan, coordinated by Istituto Nazionale Tumori: building a new kind of health care networking in the EU, hoping to innovatively serve cancer centers & networks for all cancer patients

Working on ‘rarity’ not just as an obvious ethical imperative: also compatible with substantial impacts, possibly the size of a couple of big killers in oncology, looking at the denominator of success for all #RareCancers : health care networking & appropriate patient referral!

Possibly, whether follow-up is effective is not ideally answered by the average patient of a RCT, given variegated clinical scenarios and treatments, as well as patient’s perspectives on disease awareness. Modeling individual shared decision-making may be more meaningful…
